Wastewater Services

Fair Oaks Ranch Utilities manages and operates a collection system and a 500,000 gallon per day Wastewater Treatment Plant. Treated effluent is reused and delivered to the Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club.

Approximately, 45% of the residential properties use septic systems and are not part of the city's wastewater collection.  Septic systems are permitted, inspected and monitored by the county where the property is located.  The aerobic septic system is designed to spray treated effluent on the property as part of its operation.

Wastwater Treatment Process
Everyone in the community should understand how the wastwater treatment process works and how it protects the public health and the environment.

The Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) has developed a short, simple animation of a typical wastewater treatment process that you can conveniently view online at www.gbra.org/wastewater-treatment.swf. See how water used in our homes and businesses is stringently treated to remove pollutants before being safely discharged back into rivers and streams. This reclamation and reuse of water stretches the supply in an environmentally safe manner.
