Who sets the appraised tax value of my home/property?
The Tax Appraisal Office in the county where your home/property is located sets your appraised value. The City has no role in this. Regardless of who sends you your tax bill, the taxable value of your home is set by the Tax Appraisal Office for the county where your property is located, and they are responsible for providing you with your annual notice of appraised value. The taxing entities share this information with all the entities that provide billing and collection services.
Who sends me my various tax bills?
If you live in Kendall County, you will receive your annual notice of appraised value from the Kendall Appraisal District (KAD). Further, you will receive your tax bills from KAD for Boerne Independent School District and Kendall County property taxes. You will receive a separate tax bill from the Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector office for your city property taxes. Remember, Bexar County is not keeping this tax money. They just collect it and send it to us. Tax bills are mailed in November of each year.
If you live in Comal County, you will receive your annual notice of appraised value from the Comal Appraisal District (CAD). You will receive a tax bill from the Comal County Tax Assessor-Collector for your Comal County Independent School District and Comal County property taxes. You will receive a separate tax bill from the Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector office for your city property taxes. Some of our Comal County residents live within the Boerne Independent School District boundaries so they will receive a bill from the Comal County Tax Assessor-Collector for their Comal County property taxes, a bill from Kendall AD for their Boerne Independent School District taxes, and a bill from the Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector for city taxes. Bexar County does not keep this money. They just collect it and send it to us. Tax bills are mailed in November of each year.
If you live in Bexar County, you will receive your annual notice of appraised value from the Bexar Appraisal District (BCAD). Further, you will receive a tax bill from Kendall AD for your Boerne Independent School District taxes and a bill from the Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector Office for Bexar County and any other taxing entities in Bexar County. The bill you receive from the Bexar County Tax Assessor Collector will also include taxes for your city property taxes. Bexar County keeps the part of our tax bill that is for them, and sends the rest to the various taxing entities, including our city. Tax bills are mailed in November of each year.
