The Dietz Elkhorn Reconstruction Project, originally slated for late summer 2025, has been rescheduled to early 2026 to better align with a new water line installation beneath Dietz Elkhorn to extend to the Corley Tract.
The City of Fair Oaks Ranch is moving forward with the Dietz Elkhorn Roadway Reconstruction Project. This is a key initiative made possible by the 2024 General Obligation Bond approved by voters last May. We're committed to delivering lasting improvements to one of our community's most traveled corridors.
Project Highlights:
- Location: Dietz Elkhorn Road (Ralph Fair Road to Silver Spur Trail)
- Total Estimated Cost: $4.9 million (design, engineering, construction)
- Funding: 2024 General Obligation Bond
- Current Phase: Final design and utility coordination
- Construction Start: Early 2026
- Project Duration: Approximately 15 months
This reconstruction will upgrade the roadway. It will enhance drainage and add 5-foot shoulders on both sides to create safer, more accessible routes for pedestrians, cyclists, and golf carts. These improvements align with our Transportation Master Plan and will help improve long-term roadway durability.
Schedule Adjustment: In May 2025, City Council approved a development agreement for a new water line installation beneath Dietz Elkhorn to extend to the Corley Tract near Fischer's convenience store. To better coordinate with this new water line installation, the Dietz Elkhorn Reconstruction Project, originally slated for late summer 2025, has been rescheduled to early 2026. This change allows the City to complete both projects at the same time and avoid the unnecessary expense and disruption of tearing into a new road shortly after it's completed.
What Residents Can Expect During Construction:
- Traffic Flow: One eastbound lane will remain open throughout construction.
- Detours: Westbound traffic will be detoured in three phases; maps and updates will be shared ahead of time.
- Access: Residential and emergency access will always be maintained.
