Brush Pickup Update

UPDATE #3: Brush Pick-Up Event

The City Council discussed a variety of items related to the brush pick-up event at last night's City Council meeting and the City continues to work through the details to a final resolution.

Council discussed several operating and funding options that they are diligently reviewing at this time.  As a part of last night's meeting, the Mayor announced his decision to move forward with declaring this event as a local disaster today, Friday, February 17, 2023. The emergency declaration is the next step in seeking state assistance through the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

As a result of this declaration, the City Council will call a special meeting this coming Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 6:30 pm to ratify the Mayor's declaration. To view a full copy of the declaration and the Mayor’s letter to Governor Abbott requesting assistance, please click here.

We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we work to address this issue expeditiously and conscientiously as good stewards of the City funds and property.

We would also like to ask those who have brush piles to ensure they are off the streets and away from drainage areas to minimize any further damage to passing cars or problems that might be caused due to blocked drainage areas.
