UPDATE #5: Brush Pick-Up Event
The City Council convened in a special meeting Thursday evening and voted to continue the Mayor’s Local Disaster Declaration issued last Friday, February 17. The Council also authorized the City Manager to execute an agreement of up to $300,000 to begin brush removal. Staff will continue coordinating with state officials to secure a contractor, and the City expects brush removal to begin next week. Once the removal starts, there will be one pass through each neighborhood. You can view the full special meeting here. If you have not already done so, please continue to bring your brush onto the curb/right of way, being careful to keep the brush piles away from the streets, drainage areas, fire hydrants, and power lines. This will help to ensure that the City can maintain accurate estimates to coordinate cleanup efforts. Please monitor City News and the City’s social media channels on Facebook, NextDoor, and Twitter for updates on when removal is expected to be in your neighborhood. You can sign-up to receive important alerts through Notify Me, and critical emergency alerts through Regroup. As a reminder, please continue to diligently paint and maintain tree wounds, especially those on our oak trees, to help mitigate risks for oak wilt. We have a fantastic resource on the City's Oak Wilt webpage that can assist you with any questions or concerns.

Oak Tree Pruning
Many tree branches have fallen or have been significantly damaged from the ice storm we experienced this past week. As a reminder, while pruning please ensure all oak wounds are sealed and painted to prevent the spread of oak wilt.
